PITSNPOTS NEEDS YOU! - WE HIT THE AIR NEXT WEEK!

This time next week pitsnpots - the Radio Show hits the air waves and we need you!

We are on Focal Radio between 8 & 10pm next Friday night, the 14th November.

We will have a couple of studio guests and we will do a live blog show and we want you, our regulars, to get involved!

You will get the chance to be involved on a couple of levels, either by posting your comments on the blog and having us read them out in the studio or better still, ring live to the studio and making your comments on the blog subject or quizzing our studio guests.

As far as I know this is the first time an independent blog will have it's own radio show and to be honest I can't wait.

It's cutting edge and innovative broadcasting but it will only work if you guys make it happen. I know that the idea is already raising eyebrows in the media and I back our contributors to make the programme a huge success!

We have to be mindful of the libel laws and legalities of being on a radio station which are vastly different than that of a blog site.

The show will be a mix of music, a review of the best and most commented blogs and the live studio guests.

I would like comments and confirmation that you guys are up for this never before tried, idea.
You can click on any of the Focal logo's on our page, which will take you to the focal site where you can access the "listen live" option. Alternatively you can listen on DAB Radio.

Over to you, let us know if you intend to get involved and who you would like to see us have in the studio as guests..........

Hi Tony, I have been an avid follower of the pitsnpots blog over the past few months and am really impressed with what you and the other bloggers have achieved. This is the first time that I have posted and I have to say that to my shame I have never really taken much interest in local or national politics, until I was forced to become involved due to BSF - yes I live in Trentham! I and my fellow TAG supporters will continue to fight to save Trentham High until the bitter end. However, regardless of the outcome for THS this whole issue has awoken me and many others from our political slumber and things will never be the same for us again!! I am now completely hooked on all things political in our city and am fascinated to find out more about the political views, issues, process etc that go on in our city. Your blog has played an important role in stimulating that interest. Good luck with the radio station and thank you for taking the time to set up the blog.

TAG, TAG, Fucking TAG!
That's all I Fucking read here!

Julie. Thank you for taking the time to post your very supportive comments. On behalf of the team of Bloggers, we are really excited about the chance to bring this innovative broadcast to the City.
Just imagine a blog topic, aired live both on our site, and across the radio airways. We hope that you will either contribute via your keyword to the blog, or over the phone by calling live to Focal Radio.

We are hoping to get TAG's very own Nicky Davies involved.

Anonymous. Whether you agree or disagree with the fight that the residents of Trentham/Hanford, is upto you. To them, they are doing what they feel is right for the education of their kids. Is there really any need for the effing and jeffing?

Julie, welcome to pitsnpots. Take no notice of cowardly anonymous, too wimpish to go by name.

So Mr/Ms effing anonymous 23:00. I'll tell you who you need to blame for the fact that you can not go anywhere without us pesky TAGs popping up. Websites all over, click in, there they are TAG. On the telly sometimes, there they are TAG. Turn on the radio, there they are TAG. Sunday Times, especially this Sunday, open up the education supplement, there they are TAG. Sentinel, there they are TAG, Sentinel letters, many from Trentham! TAG If I were you I would steer well clear of Trentham and roads in that proximity, else you may blow a blood vessel. So I'll tell you who to blame, that soon to be gone mayor *** Meredith and his bunch of twits on the EMB. That's who you need to blame.

Would the TAG like to disband. Yes we would. Ah relief I hear you cry. But wait a minute, there's a but, only when Trentham High is saved! So I'm afraid you'll have to wait, wait until the EMB sees sense, or wait until any potential new council leaders start to take a stand against the lame duck mayor, or wait until we've dragged the whole thing through the courts for months. Then eventually when we've saved the school, we can get on with running our parents coop trust and leave the likes of you in peace. (Actually I'll still be prone to blogging and commenting but we wouldn't then need a school saving TAG line - I quite like that TAG line.)

Now as for the Friday focal radio time, I'd be hard pushed to get to it before at least 9pm but will try to catch some of the later stuff. Sounds like I'd best not 'phone in as I might say something unbroadcastable, but I'll try to drop an email depending what's being discussed.

Oh and anonymous, you are not related to Barry - in love with academies - hates poshenders - West Mid are you? You know, serco-plant(?), Ged Rowney talk alike, NLGN member(?), often seen in Sentinel but never on pitsnpots.

p.s. for sir findo gask:
TAG = Trentham Action Group - set up to save Trentham High School from closure as part of the destruction of education in Stoke-on-Trent by Mayor Meredith and his little bunch of yes men/women - just in case you hadn't heard of it.
EMB = Executive and Members Board -Mayor Meredith's little bunch of yes men/women, soon to be replaced by leader and cabinet, hopefully a more decent and democratic lot but let's wait and see.
NLGN = New Local Government Network, supports elected mayoral systems, has serco somehow affiliated to it. I'm guessing they are in love with academies. But no worries, mayor Meredith assured us all that they did not contribute to his election campaign.

I will be there in some way next Friday. With some of the fools round hear, you will need a fast finger on the dump butten in there. Do we get to pick the music, if so I'll have Given' the Dog a Bone from AC/DCs Back in Black Album. I'v got it ofcourse but I have never heard it played on the radio. By the way, will the smell of piddel in Longton train station be discused.

The Anonymous post has been deleted, as we have clearly stated any personal attack on any person is unacceptable.

Warren, we look forward to your contribution to next weeks visit to Focal Radio. AC/DC, not heard them for years. We will have to see if we can get in on air.

warren said...

Nita... not takeing two much notice of the album charts at the moment then are you sweetheart, Black Ice, AC/DCs new album went in at No.1 a few weeks ago, and its a chracking play.

warren said...

Oh! and for the guests, may I be so bold as to surgest Roger Ibbs, Mark 'Mayday' Meredith and Lee Wanger, and a even faster finger on the dump button... lol

brooneyes said...

What you need in the middle of that ratpack Warren, is a couple of BNP representatives to make sure the truth is heard.

nicky said...

Warren, I was going to suggest old Dodger just so as we can have some fun shouting at him when he tells us to shut up. (And believe me I can shout by email when I put my mind to it.)

Craig, Sounds like you may be volunteering to take part.

warren said...

Nicky...I CAN SHOUT BY E-MAIL, AND i WOULD REALY SHOUT AT ANY OF THEM THREE. Crage, I'm not jokeing about this one, maybe Alby Walker would not be a bad shout as a geast.

Warren's translator,
Here's your P45 mate, your post (in both senses of the word) is not needed. I for one have no trouble understanding Warren directly without you.

warren said...

Werrens translatel, your not on the other site now bud your with the big boys and girls, we are the ones who care more about what you say instead of how you say it, and bother to go and vote when asked a simpel yes or no question.Every last person on this site cares what goes on in the fine city. Tell you what mate, get to Focal next Friday, you'll hear what I meen.

nita said...

You translated realy, by realy, did you not mean REALLY.

warren said...

Nicky... just to let you know, Sam Planks just let on that the leg-end that is Roger Ibbs will join him on his 10 till 2 slot one day this week. I know that this might be of interest to you, go get him mate.
Look, whats the problem with odd duff spelling on posts, if you can get your point across then whats the problem, I meen, thats the reason I dont do much on the other site now, to meny fussey beggers.

nita said...

Too right Warren.

As long as you get your point across who cares.

brooneyes said...

I've e-mailed and asked, but still haven't been told what the wavelength is that Focal will be broadcasting on. Can't listen to it if I can't find it!

nita said...

Brooneyes.

Focal is only broadcasting on DAB.

You can listen from your computer.

Just search Focal Radio, then click listen, and you are on.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous (7 November 11pm) for your information some people in Trentham don't particularly like TAG and think that certain of the members suck ass.

But really there is no need to use the F word.

Tony said...

Bloody Hell Craig! There are THREE separate places on our blog with a big Focal logo that says "click here to listen live" come on dude open your "brooneyes" lol

brooneyes said...

That stupid player thing doesn't play! All I want is the wavelength so I can tune the radio in. What's
up, is it some kind of secret?

warren said...

Crage,it not on your avrage old FM transister, get yourself down the shops mate, tell them you want a DAB radio, they start at about £20, then all you do is a waveleanth scan on it and the stations pop up, simpel as that, or you can go to focals website, and click on lesten, come on mate, you can do it bub.

What's with Warren's translator? Warren can get his points across fine on his own thanks, without some idiot acting as his translator.

Is it that Warren's translator is so simple minded and doesn't have any opinions of his/her own, that he/she has to steal Warren's?

Keep posting Warren, it appears there are idiots everywhere.

brooneyes said...

Thank you Warren, I shall take your advice.

Has anyone looked at the list of presenters on Focal Radio?

Not exactly a list of well knowns is it? (excluding Tony of course who is famous for this blog). Obviously it's early days and Sam Plank must be struggling for money! (thats if any of them even get paid?).

I would have thought that the initial penetration of the coverage won't be that wide as well considering that DAB is still a fairly new technology and people (especially around here) may be slow to adapt to it. Craig is not exactly thick and even he was struggling to work out how to receive the broadcasts.

warren said...

no such thing as society... I think you are being a tad hard on Focal there, younger DJs such as Dan Logan and Gaz Ryder have done boustin' shows full of good music, The likes of Sam Plank, Katie Johnson and Glyn Johonson do what they do best by puting information and entertament over very well indeed. The websites good to, very nice pictour of Verity Hilton on the phone.
Has for the prat translateing what I'm getting thought me, any more of it and I'll set Broonseye and Terry on you, they are fully traned to my command you know that dont you.Nicky's not but she'll just savage you anyway.

Alison said...

Warren - great reply to the idiot translator lol!!

You are right, the presenters are all well known for, well, presenting!

There is a wide mix of age ranges amongst the presenters, catering for all ages and tastes, and the station has a solid community basis.

If people take the time to listen and look at the website (as Warren has), I'm sure you'll find something you like...

No Such Thing,
The station pays the going rate for a show. The point is that Focal are giving local "presenters" the chance rather than people from outside the area being brought in to "play records" there is a difference, they are told what to play and when to plat it and you end up with tracks constantly repeated.
It's like everything that's new, it's different that's all. Look at the decision to give pitsnpots the opportunity to hit the airwaves, this is very innovative, could you see this happening on any other local station? Hope you join in and enjoy it.

Craig,

To listen to focal on your computer you may need an 'add on', I did. Now I'm useless at computers but managed it, so I'll tell you what I did and you could maybe try it:

You click the focal radio logo on the right hand side of pitnpots, which takes you to their web site, then you click the listen live near the top. I'm presuming that's where you get stuck.

If you look at the bar just at the top of your browser display you may see a message telling you the web site wants to run the add on 'Windows Media 6.4 Player Shim'.
Click on the bar that says this.

At that point the pesky thing tries to confuse you with a number of different things. The one you then click is the one that says 'Run activeX control' (whatever the hell that is). Then just leave it to do its thing for a couple of minutes and it should just start playing the radio at that point. It did for me, but if not you've got all the usual play, stop, buttons there to click.

brooneyes said...

Thanks Nicky.

warren said...

Craig... has it worked budy. I would'nt have told you that thought, I would just let you spend your cash on a DAB...lol
